“What are the real benefits of home staging?” 

A properly staged home will sell faster at a higher sale price than a non-staged home, appeal to more buyers, look better in photos and marketing materials, minimize buyer concerns, and be considered “move-in ready” by realtors and buyers. 

“Why are photos so important?” 

It is an on-line world and realtors say that 80% of buyers first do their shopping on the internet.  Buyers are browsing realtor.com and other websites featuring homes for sale and if your home isn’t listed with the best possible pictures (some listings don’t have any pictures at all), the buyer will not take note of your listing or ask to schedule a visit.  Pictures are very important.

“Can I stage my own home?”

A home seller can certainly buy the books and watch the shows and learn a great deal about home staging.  The biggest problem for a seller attempting to stage their own home is the inability to look with a buyer’s eye and to view the home objectively.  As homeowners, we tend to overlook things that have been staring us in the face for many years.  

“I thought only expensive homes were staged.” 

Any home will benefit from professional home staging and it is the average and lower priced homes that have the most competition in today’s market. 

“Who packs away the knick-knacks and personal items?” 

You do!  Generally the homeowner packs the items after the stager has identified them.  We always consult with the homeowner to make sure they can live without the item until their home sells.  Sometimes a stager would prefer to put some things away but the homeowner would rather not.  It is your home and you make the decision.  We simply make the suggestions. 

“I think I may have too much furniture but don’t want to dispose of it because I may need it in my new home.  What do I do?” 

Great question.  If you have a garage or storage available that will keep your belongings safe, we simply suggest you move them there.  If you need to rent storage space, we have a list of vendors that have agreed to offer us discounts. 

“What if I don’t have the accessories needed to stage my home?” 

Chances are you do.  You will be surprised at what we find and use to make your house look awesome!  However, we always bring a few items with us just in case.  We take pictures with those items and you then have an idea of what to purchase if you want to have the same look.
